Nalley's Garage was started in August of 2006.  Derick Nalley, Owner/Operator of Nalley's Garage has had a long interest in the mechanics of things in general.  In Jr. High School Derick was disassembling his motorcycles and installing new piston rings making the motorcycles run better.  In High School Derick took automotive classes as well as worked at a full service gas station.  After High School Derick continued his automotive interests by continuing his education through Southern Illinois University in Carbondale Illinois.  To obtain his associates degree Derick did an internship through General Motors called ASEP (Automotive Service Educational Program).  The Internship was completed by working at a local General Motors Dealership where he did miscellaneous service and repair work.  To obtain his bachelors degree Derick did an internship through MOOG Automotive's Training Center in St. Louis Missouri.  At the MOOG Training Center Derick was responsible for assisting instructors in training technicians from around the country and Canada.  After Completing his Bachelors Degree Derick was Recruited from SIU by General Motors to work in their Roadside Assistance Center in Detroit Michigan.  After only working there a year Derick was promoted to the Technical Assistance Group where he assisted Technicians from the over 4,000 Chevrolet Dealers from around the country.  Through the use of an extensive Data Base, Engineering Contacts and many other resources as well as background Derick assisted hundreds of technicians and was soon promoted to a specialty group that assisted with diagnosis of new technology that hadn't even been proven yet.  Since leaving General Motors Derick briefly worked as a service writer at a Chevrolet dealership before getting back to his roots as a technician.  After a few years as a technician Derick was given the opportunity to teach Automotive part time at John A. Logan College in Carterville Illinois were he did so for 7 years before starting his own shop at 104 N. 35th Street in Herrin Illinois.  Derick is a father of three boys and is happily married to his wife Dawn.
